A passenger jet will take off from Bangkok's main airport Thursday, the first flight to depart after the end of a weeklong siege by government protesters, an airport official told CNN Wednesday. The protesters decided to leave the airport after the Constitutional Court ordered Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat banned from politics for five years and dissolved his ruling party. .................................................

Thai protesters cheer as court ousts PMActivists demonstrating in support of the government gather outside Bangkok city hall.

Anti-riot police stationed outside Suvarnabhumi airport on Sunday.Passengers face a long wait inside Suvarnabhumi airport with most flights canceled.

Anti-government protesters have been celebrating an order by Thailand's constitutional court to ban the prime minister from politics for five years and dissolve the country's ruling party after finding it committed electoral fraud.

The decision, which effectively dissolves Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's government, follows months of opposition protests in Bangkok that have driven government officials from their offices and shut down the city's major airport for a week.

The court also banned at least one of the People Power Party's ruling coalition partners, effectively dismantling the government over allegations of vote-rigging.
